KNOWN for its friendly neighbourhood breakfasts, Cafe Lumos also offers a scrumptious, varying lunch menu that covers an array of tastes and flavours that is perfect for Mother’s Day celebrations.
With a changing blackboard of freshly made delights, which included a popular red lentil and vegetable dahl ($14.50) or a salmon, zucchini and feta filo slice ($9.50) from the packed display cabinet, there was a mouth-watering selection for everyone.
All the usual suspects are also present, with homemade lasagne, a variety of paninis with delicious fillings, and a variety of offerings such as silver beet and ricotta rolls.
If you could make friends with salads, then Cafe Lumos would be the most popular person in Fremantle with a daily range of everything from Asian Coleslaw that includes fragrant mint and beetroot, or a massive serve of Russian salad with potato, carrot and crunchy celery to boot.
As the cold weather slowly comes upon us, it was good to note there was a daily soup offered to warm your soul for just $6 takeaway and $9.50 with toasted Turkish bread.
The menu offers a variety of fresh salt water temptations, including salt and pepper calamari ($18), locally sourced chilli mussels in Napoli sauce with Turkish bread ($19), and a seafood plate for $27 that included blue spot emperor, scallops, prawns and much more the day we visited.
The cafe also offers a range of burgers, such as chicken, beef and steak, for the whole family to enjoy.
While the community-oriented cafe does the all important heart warming coffees, it also offers a variety of fresh juices and smoothies.
On our visit, the ever-changing blackboard also offered punters a delicious passionfruit pulp, banana, natural yoghurt, ice cream and honey ($7).
Though not required, reservations are always suggested, especially for large numbers.
