THE Woodvale Tavern is getting into the spirit of Oktoberfest with Sunday celebrations for the German Beer Festival.
The Tavern will be decked out with Germanic decorations, staff will be in costume and there will be German food, including bratwurst and schnitzel.
Wash down the delicacies with drink specials while listening to the German Oompah Band and Bell dancers.
General manager Richard Jackson said the tavern was family friendly and open for all.
“It is a family venue, reasonably priced and there are always specials, plus happy hour at the bar,” he said.
The food servings are healthy and hearty and well-presented.
The tavern is in a good location and offers the choice to sit inside, or move outside for an alfresco dining experience.
Mr Jackson said a menu favourite was the beefsteak and Guinness pie topped with puff pastry and served with golden fries for $19.50.
Also popular is the grilled WA fish of the day, for market price, that comes with salted gourmet potatoes, cherry tomatoes, sugar snaps and a lemon buerre blanc.
For something heavier, enjoy steak and chips, or reef and beef sirloin steak on horseradish mash with garlic prawns and asparagus.
The snack menu is available from noon to 3pm, Monday to Saturday, with a range of dishes including a hot roast roll, Woodvale club roll, Turkish roll and deluxe hamburger.
Vegetarian options are on offer and there is a children’s menu.
For dessert, indulge in apple and rhubarb crumble on an almond meal base, served with vanilla ice cream or traditional custard, or enjoy a cheesecake or chocolate mud cake.
