So, the gas crisis has finally forced people to be frugal with energy, which is good, but it is a little worrying that it took the threat of a beef shortage to drive us to it. (Yes, yes, I know other industries are affected too, but you wouldn't think it from reading the papers.)

A funny thing is happening to me as I age. I find myself becoming more compassionate towards other people.
Except the ones who don't use deodorant before boarding public transport, or

How was Mother's Day this year for everyone?
My siblings and I were afraid to ask Mum what she wanted for Mother's Day, because she would have probably replied, "Grandchildren." So we took her (and the rest of the family) out for a nice meal instead.
I must say that I found the Mother's Day marketing frenzy quite frightening this year.

Last night, as I blearily fell asleep listening to the rain, I briefly considered unplugging my laptop from the wall, in case of a power surge.
I then decided that three metres was much too far to walk and I would take my chances. Just think, a lightning strike might have fried my motherboard and this blog post would never have existed. The horror!

There was a rather contentious opinion piece on news.com.au last week called [the] "Folly of Paid Maternity Leave".
