Enraged by injustice

WHAT has become of the Australia we have known?

We had someone saying we shouldn’t celebrate the centenary of Anzac Day for fear of upsetting some multicultural groups. But what about upsetting us Australians whose ancestors fought and died for the freedoms we have enjoyed to date.

I fear these freedoms, particularly our freedom of speech and the freedom to express our patriotism, will be a thing of the past.

We are also told we are racist if we dare to fly the Australian flag.

Our Christian celebrations, including Christmas and Easter, have been restricted: I wonder what will be next?

Australia is first and foremost a country that was born and based on Christian principles, so why should we be the ones who are always expected to change and adapt?

We have always welcomed settlers from every country in the world and so many of them have integrated and become very valued members of our community.

Their traditions and culture have enriched our country immensely, but some of the people coming here now refuse to embrace our way of life and expect us to change to suit them.

Why come here for a new life if it is not what you want?

Have we not learnt our lesson from what is happening in England now? Do not let Australia become another battleground where the existing beliefs and culture get trampled under.

My rage at the injustice of the attack on Anzac Day is almost unbearable, and I am usually a very calm woman.

How ashamed would our dead heroes be to see what has become of the freedoms they believed so precious that they were prepared to lay down their lives to protect for future generations?

I agree we need to keep our Australian way of life it seems to be eroding at a fast rate.

It would be interesting if those who want to change our rights should stand up and be identified. At least that way we will see what we are up against, or will they continue to hide in the shadows. This is our country and if you don't like it, please go back where you came from as you will never be welcome here. I suppose we could blame Whitlam for changing the rules of immigration in 1975.
