HERE’S Luck Lottery Centre will celebrate 10 years of luck on the first day of the Chinese New Year – January 28.

The shop, based in the Belmont Forum, got an early birthday present on New Year’s Eve, when one of its customers won division one in the $31 million dollar mega-draw.

Owner Raj Selvendra said Here’s Luck was extra lucky and he put it down to the annual Chinese New Year celebrations at the shop.

The lucky New Year’s Eve lotto winner was one of 32 division one winners who scored $968,000.

“Chinese New Year is an auspicious day regarding luck – that’s why we have the lion dance every year,” he said.

A Chinese lion dance will be performed at Here’s Luck at 11am on January 28.

For those who do not celebrate Chinese New Year, the first day of Chinese New Year in 2012 is Monday, 23 January. 28 January is the sixth day of Chinese New Year. There are 15 days of celebration ending on 6 February. Chinese New Year does not fall on the same date each year. Next year the first day will be on February 10. We will be saying goodbye to the Year of the Rabbit on 22 January and welcoming the Year of the Dragon on 23 January.
