WHEN Yangebup dad Stephen Rooney tried to book a taxi for a night out with friends a week in advance earlier this year, he was dismayed that one could not be guaranteed to arrive.

Hearing similar accounts of late and non-arriving taxis from friends in the nearby area, Mr Rooney and wife Rachel took the plunge and started their own private bus charter business to fill the gaping hole they saw in local transport.

“We are a young family trying to look after the community around us,” Mr Rooney said.

“It’s just about giving people a bit of belief and confidence that they’re going to book a service and its going to come on time.”

He said whether it was for a girls or boys night out to Fremantle, school groups or airport transfers, he was glad to be able to help.

Seating up to 13 people on his bus with a further option of up to 65 people, Mr Rooney said his mode of transport could also be a lot of fun.
