A COMO entrepreneur has embarked on a journey to introduce a new beauty technique to Perth, opening the city’s second threading salon.
Sandrine Zyed said the hair removal technique was developed in India and was growing in popularity around the world, but was not available professionally in Perth.
After opening the first store at Fremantle’s E Shed Markets in August, Ms Zyed and her partner opened their second shop in Willetton last month and are already developing a loyal following.
“Most Australians don’t know about threading so the markets was a good place to start because people go to the market with their eyes open and a willingness to try new things,” she said.
“Everyone who tries it is very happy with the results and from that we’re developing some regular customers.”
She said the technique involved weaving a thread around the hair and pulling them out from the roots, with less skin irritation and less regular visits than waxing.
She admitted there was a little reluctance to try it because it sounded painful, but most people reported less pain than waxing and less skin irritation or redness afterwards.
“It leaves a really nice shape and there aren’t any chemicals so it’s better for your skin,” she said.
