FOUR arrests were made as police moved to dismantle the Aboriginal 'tent embassy' on Heirisson Island yesterday.

About 70 officers helped City of Perth staff dismantle the camp that was set up last month in protest over the State Government's $1 billion offer to settle native title claims from Noongars over Perth and the South-West.

Several protesters remained on the island last night and police will patrol the area today.

Good idea Thomas, stop their centrelink! They want more money for this and for that, Given to them... How about getting a JOB, and having some self respect! for your race and your children! WE where born here too,This is MY country as well... There is so much money thrown to these people, who waste it.. There are other cultures/children who would respect and be grateful for the handouts these people get.. enough is enough...GO GET JOBS!

Don't forget they get their Centrelink payments as well. Should stop those payments too for every day they stay there.

I agree with Ron.
The tax payer is paying for all these police that have to deal with this sorry affair.
I'm sure they have better things to be doing.
I just don't understand why they are allowed to be doing this.
My family was thinking about going down to watch the water ski championships from the island. Yer right.....
Get them off and the kids back to school where they should be not learning more hate.

The word that enters my mind here.. is GREED! end of story. The answer in MY opinion is don't offer anything whatsoever simple. Everytime something is discovered etc anywhere in this country it bacomes a sacred site or is supposedly owned by one tribe or another who prior has never been heard of. Although a legitimate tribe etc. noone raised any issues until it become something of an issue. If I were to camp on Herrison Island and refused to move etc. I guarantee 100%, I would have been arrested and possibly jailed simple as that. Is it because I am not indigenous? These people regardless of their aboriginality have broken the law and have legally vreated a nuisance, desturbed the peace and failed to follow the directions of the police. Mabe I am wrong with my comments but as far as I know I should be reasonably accurate with everything I have stated. Charge everybody simple as that. We cannot go to the island, we can hardly even pass it without abuse, sorry state of affairs.
