UNIVERSITY of WA students Tamsin Hearne and Jeremy Nixon will wear green and gold for Australia at the World Junior Ultimate Championships in August.
Ultimate is a non-contact, self-refereed sport played with a disc and combines elements from netball, touch football, gridiron and AFL.
The championships will bring together 1000 players aged under 19 for a week of competition at Dublin City University.
“I can’t wait to go to Ireland and take on the world’s best junior athletes,” Hearne said.
“This experience will be unforgettable and bigger than I can imagine right now.”
Hearne and Nixon have been juggling a full study load with club and personal training to prepare for the August challenge.
WA Ultimate development officer Anna Haynes said the nine local athletes selected for the championships were a credit to WA’s strong youth development programs.
