THE black number pictured got aspiring Floreat designer Carmen James into the finals of the recent WA Design Awards but she hopes to go a step further in the inaugural Activ Dragonfly Fashion Awards next year.
Despite preparing for her final parade for 2008 at Challenger Tafe in Fremantle, the 21-year-old already has some ideas for next year’s competition.
Student designers need to use the theme of Mother Nature and choose an element from earth, fire, wind or water. They can enter up to two categories.
Ms Jones said she was thinking about using water as an element for her design.
She said she would design and create a dress using the element as inspiration.
The awards, which are part of Activ Dragonfly Week, will kick-start an exciting year for Ms Jones who plans to travel before applying for design school, the White House in Melbourne in 2010.
Semi-finalists will be paraded on February 3 at Chez Pierre in Nedlands while finalists will be on show at the Activ Dragonfly Ball on March 28.
