INFLAMMATORY bowel disease, hepatitis C, colonoscopy procedures and sleep apnoea are among the topics that will be researched in 2009 at the Fremantle Hospital Medical Research Foundation with the help of grants.

The research grants were announced at the annual awards evening at The Loft in the Fishing Boat Harbour last week.

Nuclear physicist Paul Brayshaw was awarded the 2009 Barry Marshall Travel Award, which will allow him to present his new research at the Society of Nuclear Medicine annual conference in Canada.

Foundation patron and Nobel Loreate Professor Barry Marshall was at the event.
