THE loss of a child is a pain no parent should have to experience but 80 mums and dads each year lose their son or daughter to SIDS.

Tragically, Rebecca Kolodenski’s son Brock was born prematurely at 28 weeks and despite fighting for his life, Brock took his last breath at four months of age.

A year on from his death, Miss Kolodenski is raising money for research in SIDS and support for parents who have lost their little ones.

On Red Nose Day last Friday, Miss Kolodenski, who lives in Serpentine, and three friends completed a sky dive in Pinjarra in support of SIDS and Kids and to highlight the real risk of sudden infant death syndrome.

“It can happen, you just don’t think it’s going to,” Miss Kolodenski said.

“It literally happened within five minutes after putting him down for a nap.”

Attempts to resuscitate Brock were unsuccessful.

Miss Kolodenski runs a support group for other parents who have lost their children and says it has helped her to share her grief and to help others.
