WHEREVER travellers go in Australia, there are some amazing and unusual attractions just waiting to be discovered.

From Queensland’s stunning coastline and the beaches of Broome, to laid-back Tasmania and the many faces of New South Wales, there are new secrets to uncover.

Flight Centre has compiled a list of its Top 10 extraordinary experiences around Australia.

1) Enjoy a squeeze — at the Jenolan Caves in New South Wales, travellers can crawl and climb through winding passageways with only a headlamp to light their way. It is only a short day trip from Sydney, in the Blue Mountains.

2) Walk through salt at Lake Eyre — this shimmering, white salt-encrusted lake in South Australia is the biggest lake and lowest point in Australia.

3) Climb Broome’s staircase to the moon — as the full moon rises over Broome’s Roebuck Bay, it creates a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon. This natural phenomenon occurs between March and October.

4) Enjoy an outback pub with a difference — walk into a ‘cartoon’ at The Ettamogah Pub on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

5) Discover Spiky Bridge — overlooking Tasmania’s Great Oyster Bay is the amazing Spiky Bridge. This odd-looking, dry stone bridge was built in 1843 without mortar.

6) Toss the tulip — how far can one toss a tulip? Pick a colour and sign up for the Tulip Tossing Championships held in Tasmania’s Wynyard every October, where locals celebrate the coming of spring tulips.

7) See the mysterious Marree Man — the Marree Man is said to be the biggest man-made artwork in the world. The geoglyph – a design etched into the ground – depicts an Aboriginal warrior hunting with a boomerang.

8) Buy a yabby — take the opportunity to buy one of 40 yabbies, which will race for glory in four races including the Thomson Trot and Kyabra Kanter at the Windorah International Yabby Races in western Queensland.

9) Experience the bizarre — take a self-guided tour through the bizarre, freakish and mysterious, displayed in exhibits, displays and movies at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Surfers Paradise.

10) Learn to throw a boomerang — travellers can try tossing a boomerang Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, Cairns.
